i
Device for fitting or removing a window glass of a motor vehicle
The subject of the present invention is a device for fitting or removing a window pane of a motor vehicle, such as a windshield, comprising on the one hand a bracket formed by a mast whose lower end is fixed on a base while the upper end is integral with a rotary beam around the axis of said mast and on the other hand a set of suction cups integral with a bar as well as means for suspending said bar from said beam and means for adjusting the height of said bar suspended from said beam.
Conventionally, such a device is intended to allow an operator to perform alone, with as little physical effort as possible, safely and precisely, all of the operations related to the assembly or disassembly of 'a window of a motor vehicle, such as for example a windshield, a rear window, a roof window or any other window of a motor vehicle.
It has been noted that the devices of this type available to professionals today do not always give complete satisfaction. Indeed, given that they are generally stored in separate parts or folded down to a storage position, some of them may require numerous manual interventions on the part of the operator in order to assemble their different constituent elements, some of which are relatively heavy, then successive tedious and time-consuming adjustments intended to place these elements in a configuration in which the device is adapted both to the type of vehicle and of glass, and to the needs of the operator . This has the drawback of requiring both considerable preparation time and considerable physical effort for the technician, with a result which is not always satisfactory.
Furthermore, it has been found that the use of such devices does not make it possible to entirely overcome the tedious nature of the operations of mounting or dismounting the window under consideration. The efforts to be made by the operator remain too great, in particular to accompany the window during the various changes of position that it is likely to undergo for the purpose of mounting or during its dismantling.
Thus, for example, during assembly, the glass must be turned over after fixing the suction cups, in particular to allow the application of glue and / or to bring it, via several additional pivotings along different axes, in a suitable position facing the frame delimiting the housing inside which it must be installed at the level of the vehicle in question.
The structure of the devices currently used for mounting or dismounting a window pane of a motor vehicle does not allow an automated and almost autonomous implementation of these various steps necessary for the desired positioning of said pane, either relative to the vehicle, either in relation to a storage location. These steps therefore necessarily imply a significant physical investment on the part of the operator who, although the window is suspended from the stem during at least part of the steps, must nevertheless still maneuver it repeatedly for the pull or push it in the different directions required. As a result, many operators may be overly stressed and often end up complaining of back pain.
In order to partially solve this problem, it is common to use, in addition to a device for installing or removing windows of a motor vehicle as described in the preamble, a turning table. The latter allows an operator to overcome at least part of the difficulties associated with the step of turning the glass. However, such a solution involves an additional financial investment for the motor vehicle glass repair business. In addition, it also has the drawback of increasing the overall size of the installation and removal device, requiring a large volume of work or storage space, which can be a problem in certain surface workshops. reduced, especially because they are located in the city center.
The present invention therefore aims to overcome the various drawbacks mentioned above by providing a device for installing and removing a window of a motor vehicle which is able to support the weight of said window and which also ensures , preferably in an automated manner, all the steps necessary for the adequate positioning of said window in the desired location, so that a single operator can perform the assembly or disassembly alone, and has only one very limited physical effort to provide for this purpose, so that his back is preserved. Furthermore, another object of the invention is also to provide a solution to reduce the cost of such a device as well as its size, so as to facilitate its storage and allow its easy implementation within a space of dimensions, if any, limited.
In order to achieve the goals set above, the present invention provides a device for installing and removing a window pane of a motor vehicle, such as a windshield, of the type indicated in the preamble, characterized in that 'It comprises means for temporarily securing said bar to said mast and in that said suction cups are mounted for rotation on said bar around the axis of said bar and about an axis perpendicular to the axis of said bar.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the detailed description which follows, relating to an exemplary embodiment of the device for fitting and removing a window glass of a motor vehicle according to the invention given solely for information and not limiting.
The understanding of this description will be facilitated by referring to the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 illustrates a perspective view of a device according to the invention in the use position, in which the upper section of the telescopic mast is completely extracted from the lower section, and the set of suction cups is oriented in the direction of the ground,
FIG. 2 illustrates a side view of the device of FIG. 1 in which the set of suction cups is oriented in the direction of the rotary beam,
FIG. 3 is a side view of the device of FIG. 1 in which the upper section of the telescopic mast is completely housed in the lower section,
FIG. 4 illustrates a sectional view of the device of FIG. 3,
FIG. 5 is an enlarged view of detail C of FIG. 4,
FIG. 6 is an enlarged view of detail B of FIG. 4, and
FIG. 7 illustrates a perspective view of the device according to the invention in the storage position.
In the alternative embodiment illustrated in the figures, the device 1 according to the invention for fitting or removing a window, such as in particular a windshield of a motor vehicle conventionally comprises a bracket made of a metallic material , for example aluminum or a material having equivalent properties.
It is formed by a tubular mast 4 whose lower end 40 is fixed, preferably removably, or if necessary fixedly, for example by welding, on a base defined by a plate 5, capable of forming with said mast 4 an “L” structure, and on which a vehicle tire can come to bear during the implementation of the device 1 in order to lock the latter in position during the stages of assembly or disassembly of the windshield. When the vehicle tire in question is positioned on the plate 5, it is itself wedged between two opposite edges 50, 51 of the plate 5, said edges 50, 51 forming a bead with respect to the bottom of the plate 5 and consequently means for chocking said tire.
The bracket also includes a beam 6, mounted in 360 ° rotation about the axis X of said mast 4, on the upper end 41 of the latter. When using the device 1, the beam 6 extends along an axis perpendicular to the axis X of the mast 4. Furthermore, in this position of use, the beam 6 is provided capable of adopting different positions, among which a first position in which it extends from the mast 4 towards a direction opposite to that towards which the plate 5 extends (cf. FIGS. 1-4), and a position (not illustrated) in which it extends from the mast 4 in the same direction as the plate 5, and is then located above it.
Furthermore, the device 1 according to the invention also conventionally comprises a set of four suction cups 7 integral with a bar 8, as well as means for suspending the latter from the beam 6 and means for adjusting the height of the bar 8 when suspended from the beam 6 which will be described in more detail below.
The invention also provides that the device 1 comprises means for temporarily securing the bar 8 to the mast 4, so that it extends perpendicularly to the latter below the beam 6 placed in the first mentioned position above (Figures 1 to 4). In addition, the suction cups 7 are mounted in rotation on the bar 8 around the axis Y of the bar 8 and around an axis Z perpendicular to the axis Y of the bar 8 (cf. fig 1 and 2).
As will appear more clearly from the description which will be given below of the implementation of the device 1 according to the invention, such a characteristic makes it possible to have a turning table forming an integral part of the device 1 when the bar 8 is fixed on the mast 4. Thus, during his intervention, the technician advantageously benefits from the assistance of a turning table, on the basis of a space corresponding only to that of the bracket and therefore making it possible to carry out the various assembly or disassembly steps of a motor vehicle window in the most limited space possible.
In the alternative embodiment illustrated in the figures, the means for securing the bar 8 to the mast 4 comprise a first U-shaped plate 9 having a front wall 90 and two side walls 91 fixed to the mast 4 so as to provide a space e between the front wall 90 and the mast 4 (see Figures 6 and 7), and a second U-shaped plate 10 having an upper wall 100 and two side walls 101, 102 including one, here the wall 101, which is fixed at one end of the bar 8 (see Figures 2, 4, 6 and 7). Furthermore, the internal face of the front wall 90 of the first plate 9 and the free lateral wall 102 of the second plate 10 are provided with complementary fitting means. The latter can for example be defined by a groove formed in the internal face of the front wall 90 of the first plate 9 of width adapted to allow the interlocking of the free side wall 102 of the second plate 10 connected to the bar 8 .
Thus, a temporary attachment of the bar 8 to the mast 4 can be achieved very quickly by hooking the second plate 10 on the first plate 9, by simple introduction of the free side wall 102 of the second plate 10 in the free space e included between the mast 4 and the front wall 90 of the first plate 9 and by sliding this same side wall 102 in the groove that has the internal face of the front wall 90 of the first plate 9. Similarly, a separation between the bar 8 and the mast 4 is carried out very quickly and without any tool, simply by extracting the free side wall 102 of the second plate 10 secured to the bar 8 of the groove that the first plate 9 comprises secured to the mast 4.
As illustrated in the figures, the suction cups 7 of the device 1 according to the invention are connected to the bar 8 by means of a "T" sleeve 11 with which the latter is fitted. Advantageously, the “T” sleeve 11 is mounted both in 360 ° rotation around the axis Y of the bar 8 and in translation along this axis Y.
In addition, the sleeve 11 is able to be locked in position relative to the bar 8, for example by means of an indexing finger 80 cooperating with a hole chosen from a plurality of holes 18 extending along and around from bar 8.
In fact, as visible in FIGS. 1 and 7, several series of four holes 18 extend in a staggered fashion along the bar 8, while in each series, the holes 18 extend radially around the bar 8 , and are each spaced a quarter turn apart.
Thus, the sleeve 11 can be moved in translation along the bar 8, as required, with a view to being positioned at a certain distance from the ends of the bar 8, at a series of four holes 18. Once this position has been chosen, the operator still has the possibility of pivoting the sleeve 11 around the bar 8 before immobilizing it in one of the four positions determined by the four holes 18 of the selected series.
Furthermore, the sleeve 11 comprises a branch 12, of axis Z perpendicular to the axis Y of the bar 8, and on which is mounted in 360 ° rotation around the axis Z a cylindrical stud 13. The latter can be locked in different positions, for example by means of an indexing finger 81 cooperating with a hole 82 of a series of holes formed around the circumference of the branch 12. Furthermore, the cylindrical stud 13 carries a rod perpendicular to the axis of the stud 13, and whose free ends form arms 14, 15 respectively carrying a pair of suction cups 7 each extending on either side of a rod 16, 17 perpendicular to the axis of the arms 14, 15.
Thus, the suction cups 7 carried by the bar 8 can be moved in translation along the bar 8, following the translational movement of the sleeve 11, in particular with a view to being placed on the bar 8 in a manner adapted to the size of the window to be handled and the vehicle concerned. Furthermore, they can be moved in 360 ° rotation about the Z axis of the branch 12, perpendicular to the Y axis of the bar 8, following the rotational movement of the cylindrical stud 13. They can also be moved in 360 ° rotation around the axis Y of the bar 8, following a rotational movement imposed on the “T” sleeve 11 by an operator.
On the other hand, in order to be able to suspend the bar 8 from the beam 6, the invention has provided to equip, in the illustrated embodiment, the sleeve 13 with an eyelet 19 extending in the axis Z of its branch 12. For the same purpose, the underside 60 of the beam 6 has a hook 20 which can be connected to the eyelet 19 by means of a strap.
It should be noted that in the illustrated embodiment, the hook 20 is integral with a carriage 21 (cf. fig. 4) mounted movable in translation inside the beam 6, hollow in this case and preferably having a rectangular section, between two extreme positions provided with limit stops. The latter can be defined for example by the opposite ends of a slot formed on the underside 60 of the beam 6 and through which the hook 20 is engaged when it is connected to the carriage 21.
On the other hand, in the illustrated embodiment, the mast 4 is telescopic and has an upper section 42 arranged to slide relative to a lower section 43, preferably by means of a jack 24 housed in the lower section 43 and actuated by means of a motor connected to supply means. The motor may preferably rotate at two rising speeds and two descending speeds, so as to allow a deceleration during the final stages of ascent or descent and therefore an approach to the millimeter near the desired position. It should be noted that such a characteristic makes it possible to provide an adjustment of the height of the beam 6 relative to the bar 8 when the latter is integral with the mast 4, as well as an adjustment of the height of the bar 8 relative to the ground, when it is suspended from the beam 6 by means of a strap and when it is detached from the mast 4.
Furthermore, with a view to storing the device 1 according to the invention, the beam 6 is pivotally mounted on the upper end 41 of the mast 4, around an axis A perpendicular to the axis X of the mast 4. Thanks to such a structure, the beam 6 is movable between a deployed position of use in which its axis is perpendicular to the axis X of the mast 4 and a folded storage position in which its axis is parallel to that of the mast 4 and it is located against the latter.
It can also be provided, for the same purpose of reducing the size of the device 1 during its storage, that the plate 5 is made in two sections 53, 54, comprising complementary fitting means, or connected by a hinge.
Referring to Figure 1, in the alternative embodiment illustrated, the sections 53, 54 are nested. The mast 4 is integral with the section 53, while the section 54 is intended, when using the device 1 to accommodate a vehicle tire 3 2 and may comprise, if necessary, a plurality of raised patterns (not illustrated ) to improve the contact between the plate 5 and the tire 3. In the position of use of the device 1 illustrated in the figures, the sections 53, 54 are fitted and positioned in the same plane.
In the storage position of the device 1, the section 54 can be detached from the section 53, and for example placed in a vertical position against the lower end 40 of the mast 4, in order to save space on the ground. Furthermore, the section 54 can also advantageously be provided with a light 52 allowing during storage to accommodate the free side wall 102 of the second plate 10 connected to the bar 8 as will be explained below, the section 54 remaining then fitted into section 53 and aligned with the latter (cf. fig. 7).
For the implementation of the device 1 according to the invention for the mounting of a window of a motor vehicle such as for example a windshield, the technician in charge of operations must first proceed with the installation of the equipment. To this end, it positions the device 1, where appropriate still located in its storage position illustrated in FIG. 7 near a vehicle. Then, it releases the bar 8 carrying the suction cups 7 by extracting the side wall 102 of the second plate 10 from the lumen 52 that the plate 5 comprises. It then makes the beam 6 folded back against the mast 4 towards its position of use in which it is perpendicular to the mast 4 and extends in a direction opposite to that of the plate 5. The beam is locked ίο in this position by appropriate means, and its height can be adjusted automatically by actuation jack 24 allowing precise adjustment of the length of the mast 4 by selecting an appropriate approach speed at the end of the stroke.
The next phase consists in properly positioning the vehicle concerned with respect to the device 1 so that one of its tires is supported on the section 54 of the plate 5 in order to block the device 1 in place securely.
Then, the technician proceeds to secure the bar 8 to the mast 4 by hooking the second plate 10 onto the first plate 9.
If necessary, he then places the four suction cups 7, making them undergo a translation along the bar 8 and / or a rotation around the axis of the bar 8, so that they extend between the bar 8 and the beam 6 (see Figure 2) and at a suitable distance between the ends of the bar
8. After having, if necessary checked that the beam 6 extends to an appropriate height, the technician can then place the external face of a window such as for example a windshield, on the suction cups 7, and fix those here on said external face of said window. If necessary, a strip of adhesive can then be affixed on the periphery of the internal face of said window or directly on the frame delimiting, on the vehicle, the opening in which the window must be mounted.
Then, the technician turns the glass over, the bar 8 still being integral with the mast 4, by pivoting the suction cups 7 via the sleeve 11 around the axis Y of the bar 8, and / or via the cylindrical stud 13 around the Z axis perpendicular to the Y axis, until the window is adequately positioned and the eyelet 19 that the sleeve 11 has is easily accessible.
By means of a strap connected to the hook 20 and to the eyelet 19, the technician then hooks the bar 8 on the beam 6, the height of which has been previously adjusted again, if necessary, to avoid unnecessary efforts for the technician. The latter then separates the bar 8 from the mast 4.
Once released, the bar 8 supporting the glass, and suspended from the beam 6 by means of the strap, is brought by the technician towards a direction in which it extends above the plate 5, by rotation of the beam 6 around the X axis of the mast 4. The window is thus progressively guided until it is above the opening of the vehicle in which it is to be installed. During this phase, the orientation and positioning of the glass are adapted as and when required, if necessary by pivoting the suction cups 7 around the two axes Y, Z, by displacement of the movable carriage 21 along the beam 6 and using the clearance allowed by the strap connecting the bar 8 to the beam 6.
Then the bar 8 is lowered in the direction of the opening that the vehicle comprises by automatic adjustment of the height of the mast 4, therefore of the beam 6, by means of the jack 24. The glass can be applied to the frame bordering said opening and fixed against the latter by means of the adhesive tape previously deposited along the edge of the glass or of said frame.
The suction cups 7 are then separated from the external face of the glass, and the strap removed from the eyelet 19. The technician can then store his equipment by replacing the device 1 in its storage position illustrated in FIG. 7. According to another alternative, it is also possible to store the bar 8 supporting the suction cups 7 independently of the mast 4 supported by the plate 5. The latter can then advantageously be dismantled when it is made up of two interlocking sections 53, 54, or placed in the position in which the two sections 53, 54 form a right angle to each other, one of the sections being folded back against the mast 4.
